At Empowered Literacy LLC, we recognize that each child is unique and has different strengths and needs. In order to address each child's needs individually, we teach reading and spelling through Structured Literacy and the Orton-Gillingham Approach. This is a personalized, multisensory, diagnostic & prescriptive, sequential, incremental, cumulative, systematic & structured approach to teaching literacy skills. By creating individualized plans for our students, we are able to meet the unique needs of each individual.
Diagnostic assessments are used to determine a student's current skill levels. The results of these assessments are used to create an individualized reading and spelling program for them. Continuous progress monitoring allows the lessons to be tailored to their own individual needs, and while quickly responding to student progress and error patterns.

According to the 2019 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP, The Nation's Report Card):
Early intervention is critical to helping children gain the literacy skills they need to be successful. After 3rd grade, it becomes increasingly more difficult to close the gap.
With systematic, explicit instruction from knowledgeable and trained teachers, we can help meet the needs of almost all learners!
