About Us

What do we do?

Empowered Literacy LLC offers personalized K-8 tutoring services for reading and spelling using the Orton-Gillingham Approach, and 1:1 Coaching for educators. Empowered Literacy is run by Lisa Baker, M.A., A/OGA, C-SLDI, B.C.A.S.E.

About Lisa

Lisa Baker is a CT certified K-12 special education teacher with 7 years classroom experience. She has been training within the Orton-Gillingham Approach through the Orton-Gillingham Academy (formerly AOGPE) since 2016, and holds Associate level certification with Certified Level training. She is a CERI Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist. She specializes in teaching reading and spelling to struggling learners, and children with learning disabilities and Dyslexia. Lisa is a Board Certified Special Education Advocate, and is dedicated to helping parents understand and navigate special education processes and PPT meetings.


Lisa is an active member of The Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA), the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), The Reading League (TRL), and the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET).
